Questions.
No. Apple does not allow Device Owner-level control. StoicOS only works on Android 9+ (Pixel, Samsung, OnePlus, and most others).
To grant StoicOS Device Owner status, Android requires a fresh start. Device Owner is a system-level permission that only a freshly reset phone can grant. It's what makes StoicOS un-bypassable, so you can't delete the app when a craving for social media hits.
Most launchers are just skins that you can swipe away or uninstall in seconds.
- Normal launchers: Easy to bypass, purely aesthetic, and still allow access to the Play Store's infinite distractions.
- StoicOS: Uses system-level enforcement to hard-block social media, streaming and games (TikTok, Instagram, etc.). It stays active even when your willpower is at its lowest.
The only way to revert is a full factory reset. It forces you to pause and decide if a moment of scrolling is worth the effort of wiping your entire device.
Your phone gets wiped, but your data is safe if you back it up first. A factory reset is required to install StoicOS's system-level protections. We provide a step-by-step backup guide to help you securely save your photos, contacts, and files to the cloud before you begin.
StoicOS works by changing your environment. Because high-dopamine apps are removed at the system level, the infinite scroll is gone. When the distractions no longer exist on your device, you don't have to rely on willpower to avoid them.
Absolutely. Essential tools (banking, maps, ride-sharing, and work utilities) are fully supported.
Your phone's core functions (Phone and SMS) are never restricted, so you can always call or text for help.
We have a Request & Review system:
- Search: Use our internal search for any app not in the Store.
- AI Vetting: Your request is sent to our AI, which checks the app against our policy.
- Approval: If it passes, it will be added to your allowed apps in under 1 minute.
- Human Audit: Our team reviews all AI approvals to ensure the Store remains free of low-value apps like games or infinite-scroll platforms.
You download apps directly from the Google Play Store.
- Check first: StoicOS includes a Store app where you can see which apps are allowed.
- Install normally: If an app is allowed, you install it from the Play Store like usual.
- Blocked apps stay blocked: Social feeds, games, and other distracting apps remain unavailable even if you search for them in the Play Store.
Yes. StoicOS includes a global web blocklist that automatically restricts access to social media, adult content, and addictive shopping sites. You can also add your own URLs to the blocklist if specific sites pull you away from your goals.
